JONES HIGH SCHOOL: TOP OF THE CLASS
Have you heard?! Jones High School made Newsweek Magazine's list of the
Top U.S. High Schools !! The ranking is based on the ratio (named the
Challenge Index) of the total number of Advanced Placement, International
Baccalaureate or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2007
divided by the number of seniors graduating in May or June. All public schools that
achieved a ratio of at least 1.000 (meaning they had as many tests in 2007 as
they had graduates), are put on the list on Newsweek's website. Only five percent
of the approximately 27,000 U.S. public high schools managed to reach this
  standard!

This is Jones' FIRST TIME EVER making Newsweek's list !! We ranked 1227
with a Challenge Index of 1.132.
CONGRATULATIONS TIGERS ON A JOB WELL DONE !!.

WE ARE CORNELL BOUND !!
It's official !! Our valedictorian, Elease Samms received her dream assignment
Monday (March 31st) when she was accepted into Cornell University !!
A reception was held immediately following the announcement with family,
JHS staff, community members, and Elease's mentor, Walt Geiger,
who was accompanied by his wife Anne.
The highlight of the evening was when Elease placed a phone call
to hotel magnet Harris Rosen, to let him know of her acceptance.
Mr. Rosen, a Cornell alum, assisted in Elease's application process.
Another group that was proud to hear of Elease's acceptance was
The 100 Black Men of Orlando, who are also her mentors.
Elease plans to study to become an architect,
